A brief explanation of Energy Medicine modalities
is shown below. For more information on any of these modalities
please see individual practitioner web sites or Contact
Us.
| Aura |
The electro-magnetic field surrounding all bodies, including
humans, animals, plants, and trees. |
| Australian Bush Flower Essences |
The vast array of flower essences is ideal for physical, mental,
emotional and spiritual issues – they work on the subtle energy
level and support positive changes. They can be taken orally,
sprayed on, taken in a bath, dabbed onto a tissue and worn next
to the skin. They contain only the vibration of the plant in
pure water (a small quantity of Australian brandy is added as
a preservative). |
| Bio Energy Field |
This field is the layer of measurable electro-magnetic energy
that surrounds the human body. Sometimes known as the “aura”
by healers, it can often be seen or felt by energy healers and
repaired if out of balance in any way. The aura is affected
by accidents, shocks, emotions, actions of others (sometimes),
and has a naturally protective aspect. |
| Bio-energetic Medicine
|
This term refers to screening techniques and therapies that
use an energy field. The properties of biological energy, which
can be measured with bio-energetic devices are, temperature,
mass, volume, chemical, pressure, mechanical and electrical.
While this area of health care can include equipment ranging
from a simple thermometer through to x-rays, at CEM we only
use safe non-ionising equipment designed to enhance your quality
of life. |
| Body Harmony |
A hands on method of body work using conscious touch to
listen to the body to contact areas of restriction and compression.
Truly listening to the body facilitates the body to heal itself.
Past experiences are stored in the body and can shape the
way we move, think, feel and act.

| Bowen Therapy |
Bowen Therapyis a dynamic hands-on system of muscle and connective
tissue therapy, which treats the body as a whole unit. It involves
a series of small precise movements to stimulate and balance
the energy flow of the body, bringing about muscle and skeletal
realignment. It influences the neuronal pathways to the brain
and stimulates the body’s natural ability to heal itself.
Bowen works on upper and lower back pain, sciatic pain, neck,
shoulder, arm and wrist pain (RSI & Carpel Tunnel). Also
effective for relief of headaches, migraines, sinus and hay
fever, breathing difficulties, misaligned or locking jaw and
grinding teeth, pelvic, knee, ankle & hamstring problems. |
| Chakra Balancing |
These are the body’s subtle energy centers– the main, and
most-well known, are the seven main chakras – crown, brow (third
eye), throat, heart, solar plexus, sacral, base. For various
reasons, these sometimes become out of balance. Gentle healing
helps them to stabilise bringing harmony to the related area
of the body. |
| Chakras |
The Sanskrit word chakra is used to describe the wheel like
vortices of energy which are part of the human energy field.
They are not visible but are usually ‘seen’ and ‘felt’ by energy-workers.
If over or under-active the chakras can be rebalanced by using
various forms of vibrational healing, for example, reiki, crystal
pendulum balancing. |
| Colour Therapy |
Colour is used to enhance healing. Each colour has its own
vibration, therefore is useful for healing certain areas of
the body including the energy centers known as chakras. Each
chakra is associated with a particular colour. |
| Crystal Healing |
Crystals have been used for thousands of years for decoration,
sacred ceremonies and healing rituals. They are not only beautiful
but each colour and structure provides a vibrational output
which can be used for assisting positive healing changes in
the human body. |
| Dowsing for Health |
The ancient technique of dowsing was used in olden times to
find water, various metals under the ground. A pendulum is used
by healers to obtain the answers to specific questions, detect
and clear energy blockages, and many other purposes. It is used
as an indicator and a guide only. |
| Emmett Technique |
Emmett Technique is a hands-on therapy applying pressure to
sequences of muscle activation points to relax muscles thus
releasing pain and discomfort. Light pressure sequences are
used to desensitise these areas and the effect is often an instantaneous
result. This is a very powerful and exciting therapy and excellent
results have been witnessed. Emmett addresses issues such as
balance problems, jaw misalignment, migraines, frozen shoulder,
neck, arm & wrist pain (RSI), sciatic pain, lower back pain,
poor posture, abdominal discomfort, leg pain & fluid retention. |
| Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) |
EFT is a process of tapping on specific meridian points
on the face upper body and hand. The tapping balances and
centers emotions and energy within minutes. This technique
is simple, easy to learn and can be used for the emotional
and physical ailments and can be used to establish healthy
new beliefs / patterns. It is possible to banish long-standing
fears and phobias using this technique.

| Energy & Aura Scanning |
The practitioner can often feel disturbances in the energy
field of the patient by holding their hands about six inches
away from various areas of the body. This can give clues as
to the areas most likely to require healing. |
| Guided Visualisations |
While relaxing you can take an imagined “journey” to a special
place where you can just relax, or create new things in your
life. The practitioner leads you carefully and gently and brings
you safely “back” into the present moment. |
| Iridology |
Iridology has been used for hundreds of years in different
forms and has evolved into a tool that guides the practitioner
by the various colours and signs in the iris of the eye. It
is used as an indicator and guide, in conjunction with other
clinical evaluations. A session includes the taking of a case
history, assessment by iridology, questions to the client relating
to signs seen in the eyes and a suggested treatment plan if
it is needed. |
| Life Coaching |
A coach is a trained partner who helps you achieve fulfilling
results in both your personal and professional life. Through
the process of coaching you move from where you are to where
you want to be. |
| Meditation |
Meditation is a great way to reduce stress, bring harmony
and peace into your day and reduce excessive attachment to past
events and daily life situations. Among other things, it teaches
us to be “present” and more aware of our Higher Self/Intelligence.
Easy-to-learn meditation techniques can be demonstrated by the
practitioner. |
| Meridians |
For thousands of years the Chinese have described and used
the meridian system. It is believed that energy channels run
through and over the human body. Acupuncturists use these channels
to apply needles to stimulate or sedate the chi, qi, or energy
flow. Each meridian is related to an organ. Each meridian has
points along it where the energy is more concentrated. Energy
healers often use knowledge of the meridians in their work. |
| Metaphysical Hypnotherapy |
Works on the premise of Origin Therapy where present
issues are traced back to an early age, in the womb, or beyond
this life time into other lives. In a deep and consciously
interactive way, issues around relationships, loss, grief,
death, pain and self-esteem can be quickly worked through
on a powerful spiritual level. Metaphysical Hypnotherapy includes
the use of the Interlife (the space between lives)
to access any being (past or present) as well as the releasing
of spirit attachments. Future lives and lives in other worlds
can also be accessed.

| Nadis |
Nadis are similar to meridians though have even finer energy.
They criss-cross the body and are generally thought to be situated
just above the surface of the body as part of the bio-energetic
system. |
| Neuroskeletal Dynamics |
A relatively new para-medical form of skeletal alignment
that was developed in the early 1980's. The technique is non-manipulative,
non-invasive, safe and effective in the treatment of back
problems, sports injuries and accident trauma.

| Nutrition |
Nutrition is the science of using food and nutritional supplements
for human consumption and benefit. Advice, nutritional information,
lifestyle evaluation, meal planning are all aspects of a nutritional
consultation. High quality practitioner-only supplements are
often prescribed to assist healing and improve health status. |
| Orion-Theta Healing |
This technique works at a deep level to assist changes – this
may be related to physical, mental, emotional or spiritual issues
or a combination and assists healing in various ways. Changes
can be subtle or profound. |
| PHOWA |
In Tibet there are said to be ‘Five Methods of Attaining
Enlightenment without Meditation’; one of them is, ‘On
remembering the transference of consciousness, the Phowa.’
Phowa is a practice of yoga and meditation that has been used
for centuries to help the dying and to prepare for death.
The principle is that at the moment of death, the practitioner
ejects his consciousness and merges it with the wisdom mind
of the Buddha, in what Padmasambhava calls ‘the space
of unborn Rigpa’. This practice can be carried out by
the individual if they have received Phowa initiation, or
effected by a qualified master or good practitioner on the
individual's behalf.

| Reiki |
This is a gentle hands-on healing therapy. Universal Life
Force energy is channelled to the client. The practitioner is
a conduit for healing energy which is safe and pure. It enhances
the body’s natural ability to heal itself. The treatment may
assist in pain reduction and increased feeling of well being. |
| Subtle Bodies |
These are the auric bodies, or energetic layers within the
field that surrounds the physical body. The aura has approximately
seven main layers. Each one of these is connected to a different
aspect of our humanity – physical, mental, emotional, spiritual. |
| Subtle Energy |
The subtle energy of the human system is the natural energetic
force-field which surrounds and permeates our aura and physical
body. |
| Thermography |
Not only is DITI (Digital Infrared Thermographic Imaging)
the women’s answer to breast screening (pain free, no
radiation, very early detection) it also can scan the whole
body detecting pathophysiologic changes in cutaneous temperature.
The uses for thermographic screenings are increasing especially
in relation to sports medicine, muscular-skeletal problems
and workers compensation inquiries. At Complementary &
Ecological Medicine (CEM) we use the most advanced camera
equipment developed at the Royal Brisbane Hospital. We are
part of the International EMI Group (Electronic Medical Interpretation
Inc).

| Transformational Coaching |
Focuses on personal development and can include physical,
mental and spiritual dimensions. May also be called Ontological
Coaching. This approach is an inquiry into individual 'beingness'
and is the basis for a deep understanding of self and the embracing
of major developmental stage changes impacting an individual’s
way of thinking, values and worldview. |
| Vibrational Healing |
This is a general term which covers many different types of
healing modalities (mode of healing), including reiki, flower
essences, dowsing, Orion-Theta Healing, colour, crystals, and
energy body / aura scanning. The healing is assisted by various
modalities as they interact in a positive manner with the client’s
bio-energetic field. |
